The Unified Nonprofits began as a group of six grantees of the GPOA Foundation in October, 2005 and has grown steadily to become a coalition of nonprofit organizations, who run the gamut from small, all-volunteer groups to multi-service agencies. It includes groups that focus on the arts, the environment, human services, education, the faith community and more. Over 1,000 people have dropped in to visit or become regular members at our Monday meetings. Meetings are held weekly and are open to all who are interested in nonprofit success. Join us at a Monday meeting - 9:30 am to 11:00 am CST at Goodwill Training Center, located at 3400 Tulane Avenue, New Orleans (corner of Tulane and Jefferson Davis Parkway).
Unified Nonprofits has welcomed visitors from across the United States and many foreign countries, for example Russia, Japan, Belgium, England, Scotland, Norway, Mexico, Morrocco, and more. We welcome leaders of nonprofit organizations from other countries - especially to share ideas with us, as we share with them!
Unified Nonprofits offers many avenues of information and communication to nonprofit leaders:
- Weekly meetings with frequent guest speakers
- A web-based listserv that generates a Daily Digest of announcements
that is delivered to over 980 members via email
- Workshops and informal learning through the meetings
The nonprofit sector was devastated by Hurricane Katrina, yet the nonprofits were also the "boots on the ground" in the provision of disaster relief and recovery services. Many organizations were struggling with loss of office, staff, homes, and their own family members. Unified Nonprofits has strengthened the ability of nonprofits to collaborate and work together for the future of the New Orleans area.
